The funeral service for Russell “Bud” Liskow, 91, of Stewartville, Minnesota will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept., 25, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Kim Kyllo officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by the Stewartville American Legion Post 164 will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Mr. Liskow died on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center, where he had been a resident for the past year.

Russell Eugene Liskow was born on March 22, 1927, in Dover to Harold and Delia (Younger) Liskow. He grew up in St. Charles and attended St. Charles High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy, serving overseas in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Following his discharge, he returned to St Charles.Russell was married in June 1950 in St. Charles to Ruth A. Skidmore. Following their marriage the couple lived in Rochester, where Russ began his employment with the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad. The Liskow family moved to Boone, Iowa, where Russ was promoted and transferred by Chicago-Northwestern and then to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where they continued to raise their family and lived for a number of years. They moved to Stewartville in 1972, and they were later divorced. Russ was employed with Chicago-Northwestern Railroad for 36 years at the time of his retirement. He then became co-owner and operator with his son, Rick, of Land ‘O’ Dreams in Owatonna and Rochester.

Russ was married on Feb. 13, 1986 to Mildred J. Hinkle in Stewartville, where they made their home and lived for all their married years together. Millie was a homemaker and was employed for 30-plus years at Waters Connelly Co. in Rochester. Mrs. Liskow died on March 17, 2016. Russell was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville and was a member of the American Legion. Russ and Millie enjoyed spending winters in Florida and trips to Branson, the Black Hills and Colorado and summer vacations at Woman Lake in northern Minnesota. He liked woodworking, fishing, canoeing and boating. He loved time spent with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Russell is survived by his son, Rick (Debbie) of Oronoco, Minn., and daughter Jeanne Landsittel of Lakewood, Colo.; two stepsons, Greg (Sherry) Hinkle and Jeff (Bonnie) Hinkle, both of rural Stewartville; eight grandchildren, Nikki (Rob) Langheim, Ryan Liskow, Kacy Landsittel, Jesse (Jenny) Knutson, Jarrod (Breanna) Hinkle, Kyle (Lacy) Hinkle, Jacob Hinkle and Janelle Hinkle, nine great-grandchildren, Aidan, Finn and Ari Liskow, Quinn and Heath Knutson, Keely, Elsie and Decker Hinkle, Pierson and Aubrianna Hinkle, a sister, Marlys (David) Gathje of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; infant daughter, Nancy; his parents; four sisters, Burnette Strain, Phyllis Walz, Carol Vance and Mavorette LeFerink; and his brother, Lyle Liskow; and infant great-grandson, Braxton Hinkle.

A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning. Memorials suggested to Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
