Visitation for James R. Gillespie Jr., 41, Hillsdale, is 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Mr. Gillespie died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1993, at home. He was born Feb. 11, 1952, in Clarion, Iowa, the son of James R. and Betty M. Kelling Gillespie. He graduated from Riverdale High School in 1970, and received his bachelor of science in mathematics and physics from Western Illinois University, Macomb, in 1974; his master of science in physics from Western Illinois University in 1976 and his master of science in mathematics from Purdue University. He had been program evaluation technician at the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Center, Rock Island, from 1978-79; an instructor in mathematics at the Western Illinois University; a teaching assistant in the mathematics department at Purdue University; and a mathematics instructor at Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio. Survivors include his parents, Hillsdale; sisters, Colleen Gillespie, Moline, Debra Gillespie, San Diego, Calif.; and Juli Gillespie, Des Moines; a brother, David Gillespie, Hewitt, Texas; and grandparents, Frances Kelling and C. M. Gillespie, both of Renwick, Iowa.
