Jon Howard Keith was born in Thor Iowa to Howard and Esther Nelson Keith. He attended Standard School and North High class of '59. He served in the Navy on several aircraft carriers, one that picked up the astronauts that landed in the ocean. He married Kay Krauter Oct 21, 1966 while working in Tehachapi. They moved to LA area so Jon could train to be an electrical lineman with the IBEW. In 1980 they moved to Bakersfield where he continued in the trade. He retired in 2002. Jon and Kay traveled in their RV's and have been in all 50 states.

Their oldest son David passed away just 2 days before his father. Jon is survived by his wife Kay and son Paul, his wife Alicia, and their daughters Isabelle, Lexy, and Chloe; sisters Anita Jo Cowen and Mary Sullivan, nephews Mike and Brian and niece Tina; Aunt Ruth Eudy and many cousins in Iowa.

Jon was a member of Muedell/Oildade Masonic Lodge, Shriners, SIRS and the Sons of the American Revolution. Donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals Services will be held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery March 19, 2018 at 12:30 pm followed by a celebration at Kern Canyon Estates Clubhouse, 8536 Kern Canyon Rd.
