Marvin H. Josten, 75, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the charity of their choice.
Marvin Josten was born on August 26, 1939 in Klemme, Iowa he was the son of Ewald and Della (Rosendahl) Josten; he attended school in the Klemme School District graduation with the class of 1957 and went on to attend ISU graduating with an Agriculture Engineering Degree. Marv served his country honorably in the Reserves.
On November 27, 1968, Marv was united in marriage to Dianne Lauen at the First Reformed Church in Meservey, Iowa. Marv and Dianne had lived in Moline, Illinois, Forest City, Iowa, Garner, Iowa, and moved to Marshalltown, Iowa 8 years ago to be near his children and grandchildren. Marv worked for John Deere, Winnebago, IMI Corneilus, SPF Builders, Con Agra, and worked for People Rides in Marshalltown until December. He loved the farm, gardening, bridge, tennis, pickle ball, but his favorite time was when he could be with his children and his wonderful grandchildren.
Left to cherish Marv’s memory is his wife of 46 years, Dianne of Marshalltown. Children: Lynne (Brian) Bovenmyer of Garwin, Iowa, and Eric (Staci) Josten of Ankeny, Iowa, and his grandchildren, Owen and Shelby Bovenmyer, and Zachary and Cale Josten. Brother, Edward (Kathy) Josten of Elkader, Iowa. In death Marv joins his parents, Ewald and Della, and brother, Calvin.
Memorial services were held for Marvin Josten, 75, of Marshalltown, at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church. Reverend Dr. Richard King officiated and Wynona Anderson offered special music. Guests were in attendance from People Rides, Tiger Tots and the Klemme Class of 1957. Marvin will be laid to rest at a later date. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home was entrusted with caring for Marvin and his family.
