Sherry Rochelle McDougle, was born December 25, 1941, at Hoytville, OH, the daughter of Ralph and Ethelene (Dennis) McDougle. She attended and graduated from school at Clay High School in Toledo, OH. Sherry then pursued further education in the health care field by attending Northwestern Ohio Nursing College and receiving her LPN. Following college she was employed from 1962-64 at St. Charles Hospital in Ohio, before moving to the Twin Cities area and continuing her career for a short time in Minneapolis.
Sherry was united in marriage to Richard Morris on September 25, 1965, at the Belmond United Methodist Church. Their union was blessed with three children: Robert, Sonya, and Jon. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their family south of Belmond until 1984, when they moved into town. Besides helping Rich with the various tasks of the farming operations, Sherry continued her professional career in nursing with stints at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Belmond Hospital for a couple years and spent a 36 tenure at the Kanawha Community Home Care Facility, Kanawha, IA, before retirement. She truly was gifted in her genuine care for others.
In addition to being a loving and caring wife and life partner Rich, Sherry enjoyed her role as a nurturing mom to her three children. She looked forward to cheering them in all their youth activities and supporting them in their lives as they created their own families and life pursuits. She relished any opportunity to times spend with her grandchildren. Sherry was an excellent cook and made delectable baked pies and mouthwatering cakes and other delights. She created many one of a kind handcrafted items for herself, family members and friends over the years with her proficient sewing and crocheting skills. She had a vast collection of hand made porcelain dolls and loved to do interior decorating in their home. Other favorite past times were camping adventures with her family and taking walks about the neighborhood. Sherry had a fondness for animals and a special place in her heart and enjoyed the companionship of the family pets over the years, most recently their dogs Delilah a Chihuahua and Taffy, a Teddy Bear breed. They two are missing her in their lives.
Sherry gave of her time, energy, and talents over the years to the ladies of Trinity Lutheran Church-WELCA, was a 4-H leader, Girl Scouts leader and had been active with the Blue Birds Organization. Sherry always gave of herself and cared immensely for her family and the needs of others. She truly has a life changing experience in the loss of her and Rich's son, Jon Morris at age 17. A loss that burdened her heart and mind for the remainder of her life footsteps. Very recently she rekindled her faith through baptism at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Her memory and life with be carried forward in the lives of her husband and life partner of more than 52 years Richard Morris, 308 5th Ave. S.E., Belmond, IA 50421; her son Robert (Jennifer) Morris, Urbandale, IA, and their children: Taylor, Lauren, and Logan Morris; a daughter Sonya (Dan) Nisley, Kellogg, IA, and their children: Kyle, Jason, and Kayla Nisley; a brother Jerry McDougle, Bellevue, OH, and a sister-in-law Rita McDougle, East Toledo, OH; along with other in-laws and their families and many friends.
