June 8, 1893 --- May 4, 1982

HUBBARD, IA - Services for the Rev. Fred A Pieper, 88, were held Saturday from Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rudolf Trusheim and the Rev. Dean Fullerton officiating. Burial was in the Hubbard Cemetery. The Rev. Pieper died May 4 at Eldora Manor.

Fred August Pieper was born June 8, 1893, in Hardin County's Tipton Township, the son of Reinhold and Hulda Fichtner Pieper. He and Amanda Elizabeth Bier were married at Meservey Jan. 14, 1917, and farmed near there for four years. Mr. Pieper later returned to school and graduated from the Academy and the Evangelical Theological Seminary at Naperville, Ill., and was ordained in 1926. After serving several Iowa churches, the family came to Hubbard in 1945 and he later served the Point Pleasant Church from 1959 to 1963.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Pieper is survived by two daughters, Miriam Rosene of Ohio, Ill., and Phyllis Klemme of Hubbard; a son, Melvin of Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ernest of Iowa Falls and Clarence of Branson, Mo. He was preceded in death by and infant son, four brothers and a sister.
