Billye Gene Paton Lorenzen

Billye Gene Lorenzen, 67, died of natural causes Friday morning, June 29, 2001 at her home in Reinbeck while under the care of her family and Grundy County Hospice. Born January 13, 1934 in Reinbeck, Billye Gene was the daughter of G. Donald and Ruth Snow Paton. She spent her early childhood in Reinbeck until the family moved to Faribault, Minnesota.

After World War 2, they lived in Eagle Grove, Iowa for one year before moving back to Reinbeck. In July 1951, Billye Gene was united in marriage to Stanley OKones. The couple lived in Wellsburg before Billye Gene moved back to Reinbeck in 1975. On April 27, 1978, she was united in marriage to William D. Lorenzen of Reinbeck and they made their home in Reinbeck where Billye Gene was employed at the Swaney Drug Store and Pioneer Hi-Bred International. She had been a dedicated volunteer at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, where she was the very first recipient of the 'Volunteer of the Year' award. Billye Gene was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck, and she was a past Worthy Mason of the Coinette Chapter #273 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Reinbeck. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and neighbor. Preceding her in death is her father and three children in infancy. Survivors include family and friends.
