Ivan Jordan Sampson, son of Thomas and Ellen Sampson, was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on October 9, 1897, and passed away at his home in Roland on January 7, 1957 at the age of 59 years, two months and 28 days.

He was baptized at the Lutheran church in Eagle Grove by Rev. Holm and was confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran church in Roland on June 2, 1912 by Rev. G. Smedal. He was united in marriage to Amy Jondall on December 27, 1919 by the Rev. J. N. Sandven. To this union two children were born, Stanley of Denver, Colo., and Beverly, Mrs. Jim Reinertson, of Iowa City.

They established their home on a farm one mile south of Roland where they lived for 25 years. In November 1947, on account of his ill health, they moved to Roland where he remained until his death.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Amy, one daughter, Beverly (Mrs. J. W. Reinertson) of Iowa City, one son, Stanley of Denver, Colo., his parents, Thomas and Ellen Sampson, two grandchildren, Vicky Ann Sampson and Mark Reinertson, one sister, Angeline (Mrs. Sanford Olson) and a number of other relatives and friends.
