June 1, 1849 --- March 19, 1899

Ferguson Hart, who has been suffering from consumption for the past two years passed away last Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. He was born in Carroll Co., IL., June 1st 1849. He moved to Iowa in 1870 and about eight years ago came to Renwick where he has since made his home. On June 5th, 1895, he was united in marriage to Almira J. Hoag. Their only child, on Jan 12, 1898, at the age of four months, was called to its eternal home.

Ferguson Hart was a good citizen, honest, pleasant, and fair in his dealings with his fellow man. He was a member of the Baptist Church here, having joined February 19th, 1894. His faith in a home beyond was founded deeply in his heart and the comforting words he left his wife, before the death angel summoned him, were proof of his true, christian character. In his sickness he never complained, but patiently awaited the time, when he would pass from this world into eternity, there to join his mother, brother, and only child. He leaves a widow, an aged father, two sisters, and one brother all residents of this place to mourn his loss.

The funeral services were conducted by Pastor Braithwaite in the Baptist church, [Renwick, Iowa] Tuesday noon. His sermon, taken from 23 Psalm, 4 verse, was full of tenderness for the bereaved ones who gathered to pay their last sad rites to the departed. Evangelist Houghten has charge of the singing.

It was his request that he be buried near his mother and brother, accordingly the remains were taken to the station where they were sent to Woolstock, Iowa. There a large number of friends had gathered at the depot and sadly they followed the remains to its last resting place. Thus another one of our citizens has gone. His sorrowing relatives has the sympathy of the entire neighborhood.
