5 October 1884 ---- 31 March 1989

Myrtle Wood, 105, believed to be Ionia County's oldest resident, died Friday at Ionia Manor. She was born Oct. 15, 1883 [October 5, 1884], in Goldfield, Iowa. She came to Michigan with her family at the age of 10 and had lived in the Lyons-Pewamo area for the last 95 years. She was married to Clinton Wood in 1905; he died in 1957. She was a member of the Pewamo United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Donald; six grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. A brother and five sisters also preceded her in death. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held next Sunday at Hull memorial Chapel at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Scott Otis of the Lyons-Muir Churches officiating. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.
