3 July 1912 --- 13 June 1955

Funeral services for Robert John Stryker, 42, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p. m. in the Methodist church. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Rev. Roy Cox officiated. A Masonic service was held on Tuesday evening in the Wilson-Saquety Funeral Chapel.

Bob died suddenly and unexpectedly Monday morning about 11 o'clock while putting up hay. The doctor and an ambulance were called immediately but the heart attack proved fatal before he could be taken to a hospital.

Bob had thousands of friends and he was one of the most highly respected and well liked young farmers in this area. In addition to being very active in the various Masonic bodies he was also a tireless worker in the community. His counsel was frequently sought by farm and town friends alike. He will be sorely missed.

Bob's paternal grandfather was the first white settler in Wright county and his memory is being honored next week in Goldfield's centennial celebration. His maternal grandparents, the Thebiays, were also pioneer Troy and Wright county residents. He is the third generation of two illustrious Wright county families.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Jo and two sons, Tad and Scott, also one sister Phyllis, Mrs. Robert Roper of San Diego, Calif., and both of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Stryker. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Bernice.

Robert John Stryker, son of O. A. Stryker and Carrie Thebiay Stryker, was born in Troy Township, Wright County, Iowa, on July 3, 1912 and passed away on June 13, 1955. He attended and graduated from Eagle Grove High School and Junior College. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Eagle Grove, Iowa and of Bower Lodge No 464. He was also a member of Eagle Grove Chapter RAM and Medina Council R and S M of Mt. Lebanon Commandery and Za Ga Zig Shrine. He was a past Master of the Chapter and thrice Illustrious Master of the Council.
