Rose B. Christian
November 5, 1923 ---- March 24, 2018

Rose Benedicta Hogenson, daughter of the late Ben and Henrietta (Jenison) Hogenson, was born at home November 5, 1923 in Belmond, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Belmond, surrounded by her loving mother, maternal grandparents, three farmer uncles and many cousins. She enjoyed school and excelled at geography, history, and English composition, and treasured her time with her grandparents and her cousins on their farms nearby.

In the autumn of 1941, Rose attended Iowa State University and Iowa State Teachers College. As America entered WW2 six months after her graduation from high school, Rose and her sister Ruth departed Iowa for California in 1943, where they worked at Lockheed in Burbank building P-38 aircraft until the war's end.

Returning to Iowa in 1945, Rose worked as a teacher in Belmond. While attending the wedding of a friend in Rockford, Illinois in spring 1946, Rose met her future husband, Ted R. Christian. Rose and Ted were married in Rockford on August 10, 1946. The couple settled in that city where both worked for Stone & Webster Engineering.

In 1951, Rose and Ted welcomed Scott to their family, followed by Lee in 1953 and Barbara in 1955. The following year, Ted's work took the family to Buffalo for four years, Pittsburgh for two, and Indianapolis for a year. One of the happiest events in the Christian family's life was the decision to move to Denver in 1962. As always, Rose joined many clubs, charitable and social organizations, taking active roles in leadership for four decades. In 1983, after 32 years as a homemaker, Rose became a travel agent: a profession ideally suited to her passion for travel and her love of providing excellent service to her many satisfied clients.

Since 2010, Rose lived quietly at home with her family providing her care. She has courageously worked through many health challenges during this time. After suffering a sudden heart attack, Rose went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the age of ninety-four. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, her parents, her brothers John and George Hogenson, and sister Ruth Hoag. Survivors include three children: Scott of Denver, CO; Lee (Margaret) of Eagle, CO; Barbara Schoeman (David) of Centennial, CO; three grandsons (Forrest, Robert (Lindsey), and Walker, all of Eagle, and a great-grandson, Theodore.

Rose faced her death with the confident assurance that her future in heaven was secure having surrendered her life to Christ in 1980.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 am at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, 10150 E. Belleview Ave., Englewood, CO 80111. Memorial gifts may be given to the “Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church Building Fund (Principal)”.

I Corinthians 15:54-57 ESV
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
