Vivian Klemme, of Le Mars, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society, in Le Mars, three days after celebrating her 90th birthday.

Vivian Patricia Osweiler was born Dec. 5, 1924 in Marshall, Minn., to Albert J. and Zella (Guthrie) Osweiler. She attended school and graduated from Marshall High School, Marshall, Minn., in 1942. Following her graduation, the family moved to Le Mars and Vivian worked as a cashier at JC Penney for a couple of years before moving to Dallas, Texas. In 1946, she returned to Le Mars and returned to work at JC Penney. Vivian was united in marriage to Lowell Klemme on April 18, 1949 at the St. James Catholic Church Rectory.

Vivian and Lowell moved to Thor, where Lowell operated the Standard Oil Tank Service. While in Thor, they were blessed with a son, Rodney.

In June of 1955, Vivian and Lowell moved to Merrill, where Lowell was transferred as the Standard Oil Agent. While living in Merrill, the family was again blessed with the births of Julie, Barb and Robin. While her children were young, Vivian stayed home to care for her children. Once all were in school, Vivian went to work for First National Bank in the mid 1960s. She later worked for Le Mars Hatchery as their bookkeeper. In the early 1970s, Vivian went to work for Hy-Vee as their bookkeeper until retiring in the early 1980s.

Vivian and Lowell enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad, dancing, golfing and bowling. She was a member of several card clubs, the Merrill Community Club and enjoyed fine collectibles. She was a longtime member of Assumption Parish and the St. James Catholic Church along with the Merrill American Legion Auxiliary. Vivian and Lowell enjoyed attending all of the grandchildren's activities as possible. Her family was her greatest joy.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lowell, of Le Mars; four children: a son, Rodney Klemme and his wife Mary of Menominee Falls, Wis., and their children Scott (Megan), of Carlsbad, Calif., and Katy, of Menlo Park, Calif.; a daughter, Julie Schultz and her husband Doug, of Le Mars, and their children Brian (Shauna), of Le Mars, and their children Grayson and Kendall, Steve (Mallori), of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Tyler, of Le Mars; a daughter, Barbara Klemme, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and her children Travis and Alysha, of Littleton, Colo.; a son, Robin Klemme and his wife Rhonda, of Merrill, and their children Trent (Virginia) Hanner, of Oyens, and their children Riley and Raiden, Jacob (Samantha) Lehmann, of Sioux Falls, and their children Talan and Grace, and Ryan Lehmann (Rachel Hargens), of Sioux Falls; a sister, Caroline Grabowski, of Titusville, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Harvey (Betty) Klemme, of Akron; a sister-in-law, Leah Ann Osweiler, of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Susan (Ralph) Wibe, Margaret (George) Brenner and Maureen (Warren) Schaefer; three brothers: Richard (Patty) Osweiler, Vincent (Madelyn) Osweiler and Jack Osweiler; a brother-in-law, Hank Grabowski and several Klemme in-laws.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Parish -- St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin Richter and Deacon Paul Gengler officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation with the family present will be after 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home with a 4 p.m. Parish Rosary followed by a 7 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service this evening at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are with the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home of Le Mars.
