October 27, 1947 –--- March 10, 2018

James Stanley Holden (Jim) passed away to be with our Lord on March 10, 2018. Jim resided and died in Tenino, WA where he lost his battle with cancer.

He was born to James R. Holden and Milada Kubicek Holden on October 27, 1947 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. Jim graduated from Tenino High School in 1965 and entered college at Centralia Community College until 1967. At this time he joined the United States Air Force and during 1967-1970 he served in Alaska and Korea with the US Air Force Security Service. After leaving the Air Force he worked for Hancor, in the logging industry, and Washington Culvert Company before being hired by the US Postal Service. He retired from the USPS in 2003.

His love for Alaska never waned and in 1998 he went back to Alaska and in 2000 he and his wife bought property in the Lake Creek area near Anchorage, AK. He loved to spend time at the cabin and spent most of June and some August there fishing for King and Silver Salmon. He loved showing his family and friends the wilds of Alaska and to be with him at the cabin. Jim would rather be in Alaska than almost any other place.

Jim was a member of the VFW Post 5878 in Tenino WA. He was a Past Post Commander and held other offices within the Post. He was always concerned for his fellow Veterans. He participated in Memorial Day Service on the Honor Squad.

Jim was married on August 8, 1998 to Bonnie Cruver Holden in Chehalis, WA, who continues to reside at their home in Tenino, WA. He was previously married to Janice Campbell on October 15, 1973. Jim is survived by his wife Bonnie Holden; his father James R. Holden of Tumwater, WA; sister Madrona Holden of Eugene, OR; brother Joseph Holden of Rochester, WA; children: Jennifer Holden of Olympia, WA, James Holden (Alyssa) of Rochester, WA, Jaclyn Mow (David) of Everett, WA, Jennifer McBride (William) of Ephrata, WA, Jason Russell (Megan) of Tenino, WA, and Justin Russell Rochester WA; grandchildren: Haylee Holden, Christian Wille, James (Skylar) Holden, Brandon Anderson, Lynzie Kugan, Brycen Kugan, Stefan Smith, Chelsea Smith, Devin Smith, Gabrielle Smith, Dominic Smith, Keegan Russell, Jason Russell, Chevy Russell, Tayte Russell, Jacob Russell, Krystal Russell, Matthew Russell; and great-grandchildren: Henzley Anderson, Thor Pierre, and Zyra Griffith.
