Gerald Bauge, son of Joseph and Julia Halverson Bauge, was born near Estherville, Iowa, Marc , 1885, and passed away at his home in Lyle Township on the morning of March 9, 1961, after suffering a heart attack. As a young man, he lived in Emmet county, Iowa, Dows, Iowa and lived in the Austin area the past 42 years. On March 18, 1918, he was united in marriage with Addie Wynn Fialka at Austin. He was a member of the Methodist Church, always interested in the affairs of the church and a regular attendant as long as his health permitted. His life had been spent in farming and the interests of the farmer were of vital concern to him.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Jordan Mortuary Chapel, the Rev. William J. Campbell officiating. Interment was at Woodbury Cemetery with Walter Kuhl, Niles Van Hooser, Joseph Hrabak, Harold Warrington, Lester Pell and Vernon Campbell serving as bearers.
Mr. Bauge is survived by his wife, Addie; four sisters, Mrs. Sophia Gilbertsen, Austin, Mrs. Louvina Bergeson, Mrs. Olive Iverson, Miss Jessie Bauge, Ellsworth, Iowa; two brothers, Delbert of Ames, Iowa, and Elwood of Dows, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
