8 February 1912 --- 25 November 1966

Leland C. Larabee, 54, died suddenly Friday night at his farm home east of Coin of a heart attack. Mr. Larabee was born Feb 8, 1912 at Blanchard, the son of William G. and Myrtle Van Fosson Larabee. He had lived in South Dakota, Omaha, and Eagle Grove before starting his farming career. The family home had been in the Clarinda area for many years and he had purchased the present farm four years ago.

He was married to Elizabeth Honaker at Clarinda on Jan 1, 1936. In addition to his farming Mr. Larabee was custodian at the Coin school for the South Page School District. He was a member and trustee of the United Presbyterian Church at Coin, a member of Plum Masonic Lodge No 285, at Siam, had formerly been a member of the Eagles Lodge and had worked as one of the organizers for the NFO.

He is survived by his wife, four children, Gary of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Susan Jackson of Lincoln, Craig and Ricky both of the home at Coin; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Larabee of College Springs, five brothers, Ed of Lincoln, Dale of Hygene, Colo, Carl and George of St. Joseph, and Euel Larabee of Omaha; four sisters, Mrs. Albert (Velma) Swanson of Hartford, SD, Mrs. Alger (Della) Froien and Mrs George (Evelyn) Ferguson both of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Merle (Margaret) McCutcheon of Nevada, Ia. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

The funeral service was held this Monday afternoon at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Clarinda with Dr J. D. Almes, pastor of the Church officiating. Mrs. Helen Hall Hoskinson was the organist with Jim Dunbar as the soloist.

Pallbearers were Russel Malloy, Herbert Goodman, Emmett Gipe, Ronald Steeve, Omar Swanson and Elmer Gerdis. Ushers were Donald Herzberg and Donald Buesing. Masonic graveside services were given by Plum Lodge. Interment was in the Clarinda Cemetery, William Memorial Chapel of Clarinda was in charge of the services.
