1 January 1839 ---- 7 November 1917

Mrs. Elizabeth Sadler died Wednesday evening Nov. 7th after a lingering illness of heart disease, coupled with old age. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church where the funeral services were held at nine o'clock Friday morning. The burial was in Calvary cemetery. The following friends acted as pallbearers, Jas. Henneberry, Simon Lalor, H. B. Cole. Wm. Wehrheim, Jos. Kist, Sr., Frank Kubitschek.

Obituary

Elizabeth Engel was born near Berlin, Germany, Jan. 1st, 1837 and emigrated to this country in 1850. She married Nicholas Sadler in 1865 at Chicago and to this union were born eight children of whom the following survive, Mrs. Carrie Schlader, Tony Sadler, Peter Sadler and Anna Hauser. Besides her children she leaves nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. After her marriage they lived at Kankakee County until 1882 when they moved to Iowa, locating on a farm in Woolstock township, where Mr. Sadler died the same year. Retiring from farm life Mrs. Sadler built the home where she lived until her death.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Tony Sadler from Kaukana, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Bates, Sioux City; Nick Sadler, Lisbon, N. Dak.; Mrs. Petry and Mrs. Jake Schlader, Clarion.
