Debra Kay Ruhnke LaRue, age 63, passed away on January 26, 2018 at her home in Perry with family by her side. Memorial Services will be in Memorial Hall in Eagle Grove at 11:00 followed by a luncheon. Memorials can be sent to Travis Murphy, 313 10th St. Perry, Iowa 50220. Debra predeceased by her father Robert Koob, brothers Mike Koob, Brian Koob, niece Julie, granddaughter Paige Degner and Everett Ruhnke.

Debra K. LaRue, 63, Perry, Iowa
Debra Kay LaRue, age 63, passed away on January 26, 2018, at her home in Perry. Her mother, brother, son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids were beside her when she passed on. Debra was born on April 24, 1954, in Clarion, Iowa, and grew up in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Her parents were Robert and Bettie Koob. She grew up with seven other siblings, Linda (Kent) Brooks, Pam Koob, Penny (Denny) Eittreim, Mark (Dianne) Koob, Terry (Denise) Koob, Mike (Linda) Koob, and Brian Koob.

Debra graduated from Eagle Grove High School. Later in life she had two children, Anita (Doug) Heckman, and Travis (Danielle) Murphy. She attended Iowa Central College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in applied science focusing on Radiography. In September, she made her home in Eagle Grove, along with her past husband, Everett Ruhnke. After graduating college in 1993, she worked at Webster City Hospital 1993-1999, Boone County Hospital 1999-2005, Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau, Alaska, 2005-2007, Juneau Bone and Joint Center 2007-2012. She retired in 2012, and returned to Clarion to enjoy her time with her family, friends, and retirement. Shortly after moving back she married Dennis LaRue. Her grandchildren were, Adelie Moffitt, Lincoln Spellmeyer, Sam Murphy, Feliciti Murphy, and Peyton Murphy; many nieces, nephews; and many friends. When she wasn’t busy with work, she enjoyed playing bells for the church, scrapbooking, quilting, baking, canning, traveling, stamping, bingo, and Cheeto time with her granddaughter, Feliciti Murphy.

Memorial Services will be held on Sat., February 10, 2018, at Memorial Hall in Eagle Grove at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Debra donated her remains to Iowa City for educational purposes for others students in the future. Memorials can be sent to Travis Murphy, 313 10th St., Perry, Iowa 50220. A huge thank you to Mercy Hospital, oncology, radiation, Dr. Dan Moyse and staff at the pain clinic, all the nurses and staff on 8th floor at Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospice Staff, and also to Dr. Lindsay Weber for finding mom's cancer.

Debra was predeceased by her father, Robert Koob; brothers, Mike Koob, Brian Koob; niece, Julie; granddaughter, Paige Degner; and Everett Ruhnke.
