Donald Irwin Iverson was born Feb. 10, 1906 along the Iowa River two miles west of Popejoy, Iowa to Oliver Birtran Iverson (Nov. 12, 1879 - Oct. 9, 1959) and Olive Marie (Bauge) Iverson (Jan. 27, 1883 - Dec. 28, 1972). He was their first born of 4 children.
Donald married Margie Marie Christenson (May 31, 1911 - July 17, 1986) on Jan. 20, 1934 at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa by the Rev. Gent. Margie was born on May 31, 1911 in Wilkie, Iowa to Ensign Peter and Elna Geraldine (Nilsen) Christenson.
Donald was the oldest brother of:

Iver Iverson (Aug. 22, 1842 -July 11, 1927) and Anna (Erickson) Iverson (June 6, 1846 - Jan. 2, 1927) and Joseph Nilsson Bauge ( Jan. 16, 1843 - Dec. 12, 1917) and Julia (Halverson) Bauge (June 24, 1853 - Nov. 13, 1921)Donald and Margie had 2 sons:
Donald Dean Iverson (b. Sep. 24, 1934 - d. Nov. 4, 2003)
Gary Alan Iverson (b. July 15, 1939 -Don grew up on the O.B. Iverson family farm 2 miles west of Popejoy. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Don graduated from Dows High School in 1923. He attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls and in 1929 was awarded the Three Year State Teachers Certificate for the Music Directors Course. This qualified him to teach for 5 years. Don's first position was at Lamoille for the princely sum of $140 a month for a term of 36 weeks. The contract for the 1930-31 term specified that he "shall not keep late hours to interfere with school work." He also agreed to assist in playground and building supervision and to teach music, English, and other subjects.
At the time of his marriage in 1934, Donald was instructing instrumental music in Ellsworth and the Hubbard schools. In 1936-1937, Don taught at Akron in the grade and high schools; the contract for $900. For the second year, he received a raise of $75 to teach only in high school. For 2 summers, he attended Morningside College in Sioux City and was awarded a Bachelor of School Music degree in August 1938. He continued to teach for a total of 33 years primarily in instrumental and vocal music and science. He had played with the Karl King Band. The last positons were at Bellevue and New Hartford in 1963. Don was proud to be an active member of the Iowa Bandmasters Association.
Margie was a close neighbor of the Iverson's and graduated from Popejoy in 1929. That summer, she attended Ellsworth College to earn teacher certification and then taught for 5 years in rural Franklin and Hardin counties. In 1933, she received the First Grade Uniform County Teachers Certificate, which authorized her to teach for a 3 year period.
After marriage in 1934, Margie was a homemaker for 14 years. She resumed teaching in 1948 and taught another 15 years. First, she was in rural schools. After she received the Two Year Normal Diploma from Upper Iowa University at Fayette in August 1952, she was in upper elementary. In 1963, her last position was in Parkersburg.
From 1963-1968, Don and Margie operated the Iverson Music Store in Webster City. Don passed away in 1968 a little over 62 years of age.
Donald was survived by his wife, Margie, his sons: Donald Dean Iverson and his wife, Faye, and Gary Alan Iverson and his wife, Merry, 2 grandchildren: David Dean Iverson and Susan Faye Iverson, his mother, Olive Bauge Iverson, brothers: Lester and Wallace Iverson and sister Ruth Iverson Swenson. Preceding him in death was his father, Oliver Birtran Iverson in 1959.
