Linda Anne Darland, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Thorn) Peterson, was born July 14, 1947, at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove. On April 24, 1965, Linda was united in marriage with Douglas R. Darland in Eagle Grove. They lived in Goldfield for 21 years and spent the last 32 years in Clarion. Linda worked as a dispatcher for the Wright County Sheriff's Department for 24 years. She volunteered at the school and coached cheerleading.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Linda enjoyed golfing, bowling, shopping and attending her sons and grandson sporting events. Her greatest joy was her family.

Linda passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion at the age of 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donovan Darland; grandson, Joshua Darland and a brother, Larry Peterson. Linda is survived by her husband, Douglas Darland of Clarion; son, Doug (Desiree) Darland of Story City; daughter-in-law, Kelly Darland of Clarion; four grandsons, Jason (Nicole Backoff) Darland, Rhett Darland, Ryan Darland and Reese Morris (Jill Merritt); two great grandchildren, Jace and Lukas; three brothers, Tom (Denise) Peterson of Eagle Grove, John Peterson of Eagle Grove and Mike (Julie) Peterson of Ames; brother-in-law, Robert Darland of Clarion and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Jerry Blake celebrating. Visitation is Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 2:30 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
