Marie Kittelson --- Madison, MN

Funeral services for 94 year old Marie Kittelson were held at 10:30 a.m, Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church. Rev. Kirk Meseck officiated at the service. Special music was provided by Linda Anderson, organist and Julie Hill, soloist. Active pall bearers were Dan Lee, Kathy Odden, Stan Olson, Gary Boraas, Boise Halvorson and Jeff Rheingans. Interment was in Faith Lutheran Cemetery.

Marie Obe was born on July 8, 1921 to parents Jacob and Severine (Amdal) Obe at Jewell, Iowa. She was baptized into the Christian Faith and confirmed on December 4, 1936 at Slater, Iowa. Marie attended school and graduated from Randall High School on May 16, 1939. She furthered her education by attending Waldorf College, Iowa. She taught at different schools in Iowa.

She received her Master's Degree at Greeley University in Colorado. She was united in marriage to Melvin Kittelson on December 26, 1962 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, Iowa. After their marriage, Marie and Melvin farmed for 24 years south of Madison. Marie was a substitute for Madison school for 22 years. After Melvin's death in 1986, Marie continued to live on the farm before moving into Madison. In life, Marie enjoyed traveling and made three trips to Norway, served with Hospice, was a member of the Lac qui Parle Study Club, a Bible Study, member of Faith Lutheran Church and worked with the Ladies Aid.

Death came to Marie on August 29, 2015 and she had reached the age of 94 years, one month and 21 days. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Laura Kittelson of Starbuck, MN, brother-in-law, Selmer Kittelson of Phoenix, AZ, Esther C. Larson of Los Alamos, NM, Valborg L. Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, Alice Mcooley of Mesa, AZ, Olive E. Dornfield of Minneapolis, MN and many nieces and nephews. Blessed be her memory.
