Sam N. Fatland, 81, formerly of Eagle Grove died Friday at Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, after a long illness. Mr. Fatland was born at Newark, Ill., lived at Eagle Grove more than 40 years and moved to Des Moines seven years ago. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Lettie, and a son, LeVerne, both of Des Moines; four daughters, Miss Marguerite Fatland, Glendale, Calif., Mrs. Ardith Fildman, ...Ill., and Miss Lottie Fatland and Miss Edith Fatland, both of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Russell, Des Moines, and Mrs. Josephine Beamer, Minneapolis, Minn., and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral Home, with Rev. Lyle W. Lieder in charge. Casket bearers were Lindsey Miller, Willard Thomason, Wayne Thomason, Wm. Larick, Arthur Askleson and Harry Groves. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
