June 24, 1907 -- May 20, 1988

Hans Marker was born June 24, 1907, the son of Thomas and Ella Hanson Marker, at Galt. He received his education in Galt schools. Hans was united in marriage to Winnifred Poolman of Galt on June 27, 1930, at Rowan. The couple made their first home in the Dows area where their first son, Darwin, was born. They then moved to the Galt area where they had their next two sons, Donald and Daryl. They resided then on a farm near the Wall Lake area. The couple moved again to Dows where he was employed in the feed grinding business. During their eight years in Dows, their only daughter, Delores, was born. Hans returned to farming in the Goldfield area, and in 1948, they moved to Woolstock to farm, and they were there until 1965 when they moved to Eagle Grove. Hans retired from farming in 1978.

Hans Marker died at his home May 20, 1988, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Carrie Greely and three brothers, George, Elmer and John Marker. Survivors include his wife, Winnifred, Eagle Grove; three sons, Darwin, Donald and Daryl, all of Woolstock; and one daughter, Delores (Mrs. Eugene) Ryerson, Eagle Grove, one
brother, Carl Marker of Britt, 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 23, at 10 am. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Scott C. Hall officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
