Harley Peter Holck, the son of Henry and Mary Larson Holck, was born on a farm near Kanawha on March 15, 1902. He grew up on the family farm and attended the Kanawha schools and later attended a vocational training school in Kansas City. He was baptized in the Christian faith at the Klemme United Methodist Church and was a church member at the Kanawha Methodist Church for many years and later joined the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church. For many years he farmed with his brother, Kermit Hoick, near Kanawha. On Feb. 11, 1951, he was united in marriage with Esther Stueland at Eagle Grove. For several years the couple farmed northeast of Eagle Grove and in 1967, they moved into Eagle Grove, where they have lived since.
He died on Monday morning Sept. 3, 1984, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge where he had been a patient for the past few days. He attained the age of 82 years, five months and 18 days. He is survived by his wife, Esther Holck of Eagle Grove; two brothers, Kermit Holck of Kanawha and Walter Holck of Kanawha; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harry Holck; and four sisters, Elaine Polzin, Lulu Hartwig, Alice Griemann, and an infant sister, Mabel Holck.
Funeral services for Harley Holck, 82, of Eagle Grove, were held on Wednesday, Sept. 5,1984 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Tuesday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
