October 5, 1913 --- August 28, 1984

Lester Stanley "Buster" Reed, the son of Albert and Bertha Stanley Reed, was born on October 5, 1913 at Bogota, Ill. Later the family moved to Iowa and settled on a farm north of Goldfield, where he grew up and attended school. He was married, sons, Thomas, Arland and Albert were born. Later, he was married to Elvira Frakes on July 4, 1943 and to this union were born three children; Stanley, Terry and Penny. Mr Reed was employed as a plumber for Whyte's in Goldfield for over 20 years and had lived in Eagle Grove for the past 39 years. He died of a sudden heart attack on Tuesday morning, Aug. 28, 1984 at his home in Eagle Grove at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 23 days.

He is survived by his former wife, Mrs. Elvira Frakes Reed of Eagle Grove, a daughter, Penny Lynn, Mrs. Leo Gonzalez of Mission, Texas, four sons Arland and Albert Reed, who both live in California, Stanley Reed of Clarion, and Terry Reed of Eagle Grove, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Thompson of Humboldt and Mrs. Bernice Wergeland of Hardy; a brother, Robert Reed of Sparta, Mo.

Funeral services for Lester S. "Buster" Reed, 70, of Eagle Grove, were held on Friday, Aug 31, 1984 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated and burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation was held on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leland; a sister, Olive Werstein, and a son, Thomas.
