Jerry Lynn Allen, 62, of Litchfield Park, AZ, formerly of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, with his wife, Debbie, and great friends, Bill and Kelli Bounds, by his side. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 West Main Street, Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established.

Jerry was born December 12, 1954, in Marshalltown, to Kenneth and Hazel Allen. He had one sister, Paula. Jerry grew up in the Marshalltown and Melbourne area, attending Marshalltown schools and graduating with the class of 1973. Jerry married Debra May on March 7, 1985 in a ceremony on St. Thomas, USVI.

Jerry spent his entire childhood growing up on the farm where he learned his amazing work ethic and attention to detail. That only grew stronger as he got older and his passion turned to law enforcement. He knew from an early age that he was going to be in the law enforcement field. He started doing "ride alongs" with officers and worked as a dispatcher when he was still in high school. As soon as he graduated he worked as a jailer and then went on to Clarion, IA as a police officer/EMT. He graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy while with the Clarion PD. From there Jerry moved back to Marshalltown to the Marshalltown Police Department as a police officer before moving to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office as a road deputy. At the Sheriff's Office, Jerry was involved in helping to form the recruiting program and motorcycle unit that other departments in the state then started. He was a Technical Accident Investigator with the department after graduating from the Northwest University Technical Accident Investigator program. He was a member of the Midwest Association of Technical Accident Investigators (MATAI). Jerry proudly retired from more than 33 years of law enforcement in 2006.

After retirement, he worked at Barrett Jackson classic car auctions as block security, the Iowa Speedway as security, and most recently with SAFE Management as on field security at the University of Phoenix Stadium at Arizona Cardinals home games. Jerry was also able to work on field for Superbowl XLIX.

Jerry loved traveling. He and Debbie traveled several times to Europe. He traveled all over the United States via car, motor-home, and most loved the cross country motorcycle trips with his wife, Debbie. Jerry enjoyed hiking and was very proud of the fact that he climbed to the top of Pikes Peak three different times, most recently 2 years ago. He was a huge NASCAR fan attending races at many tracks across the country. Jerry had his private pilot's license and helped good friend, Don Niederhauser, fly single engine planes to Europe several times.

Jerry is survived by his wife Debra, his sister Paula (Don) Smith, mother-in-law Martha Gazaway, nephew Cyrus (Dawn) Shepard, nieces Kristi (Dennis) Beem and Kelli (Nate) Hamblin, great nephew Emory Beem, great nieces Ananda and Jaden Beem, and furry daughters Libbi and Matti. He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Hazel Allen, father-in-law Lester May, brother-in-law Kevin May, and stepfather-in-law Charles Gazaway. He will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends.
