Thomas Lee Cooper, the son of C. J. and Phyllis (Gray) Cooper, was born on August 15, 1952, Ames, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1970. He then attended Iowa State University.

On July 28, 1979, Tom was united in marriage with Michele (Mickey) Peterson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the couple made their home and raised their three children in Eagle Grove.

Tom, or Coop as he was better known, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He sat on many community committees and served as a volunteer coach. In 1984, Coop and Mickey founded and opened Eagle Grove Pharmacy, which they still own and operate. Coop was recently busy remodeling the building next door as a new addition to the pharmacy. He was a fabricator by trade and enjoyed a challenge.

Coop was an avid sports fan, supporting and following, the Eagle Grove Eagles, Iowa State Cyclones, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs. He felt this was the year the Vikings were going to go all the way. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and especially his grandchildren. He was devoted to his family.

Tom passed away, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 65 years. He was preceded in death by his father, C.J. Cooper. Survivors include his wife, Michele Cooper of Eagle Grove; three children: Trent Cooper (Marci) of the Twin Cities, Katie Legvold (Brett) of Humboldt and Leslie Cooper of Eagle Grove; four grandchildren, Bexley, Dawson, Reese and Cooper; mother, Phyllis Cooper of Clarion, sister, Connie Wilson (Rick) of Eagle Grove, brother, Joe Cooper (Julie) of Glenview, IL., and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, with Father Jerry Blake and Deacon Mike Whitters officiating. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:15 p.m. with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
