Neil F. Kalkwarf, 66, died January 14, 2016 at his home in Montrose, CO following a battle with cancer. It was his wish to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in the spring near the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

Neil was born March 1, 1949, the youngest of six children born to Ernest and Florence Kalkwarf of Belmond [Iowa]. He was raised on a farm east of town and attended Belmond schools, graduating in 1967.

Neil was a wonderful cook, and many people remember his Belmond restaurant Archibald’s on Main. The family moved to Colorado where he continued his passion for cooking for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Merrill. He is survived by his wife Anna of Montrose; sons Ryan (Michelle) and Niles (Erin); and siblings Janis Hase, Paul Kalkwarf, Miriam Kalkwarf (all of Colorado) and Adrienne Pasquariello of Belmond, Iowa.
