Services for Magnus Hansen, 78, life-long resident of the Goldfield community, were conducted in the United Presbyterian church by the Rev. Cassius McKnight at 2 p. m. Wednesday. Richard Hansen, Thomas Nelson, David Hansen, Paul Slaikeu, David Nelson and Donald Way were pallbearers. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
Mr. Hansen was president of the Goldfield Cooperative Creamery for 17 years and was president of the Goldfield Farmers Elevator Cooperative for 20 years. He served on the board of directors of the Boone Valley Cooperative Processing Association and was a member of the Wright County AAA Committee for 16 years. A charter member of the Evergreen Sporting Association, he was treasurer of Eagle Grove township school for 40 years.
Mr. Hansen, son of Andrew and Caroline Nelson Hansen, was born Sept. 4, 1877 in the Evergreen community near Goldfield. He died at his home Monday at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
He and Mable Paine were married Jan. 3, 1906. They were the parents of seven children Edna (Mrs. Glen Nelson) of Bradgate, Robert and Dorothy (Mrs. Forrest Slaikeu) of Eagle Grove, Esther (Mrs. Lester Hanson) and Kathryn (Mrs. John Hansen Jr.) of Goldfield, David, of Humboldt and Glen of Woolstock.
Mr. Hansen joined the United Presbyterian church in Goldfield Jan. 18, 1903 and served it as an elder for more than 50 years. Survivors include Mrs. Hansen, four daughters, three sons, 24 grandchildren and two brothers, Hans and Alfred of Goldfield.
