J. L. McDonald
James L. McDonald, 57, of 1920 B avenue NE, died Wednesday after a long illness. Born Dec. 12, 1915, in Eagle Grove, he had lived in Cedar Rapids 15 years. A World war II navy veteran, he was a graduate of Loras college, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons, Pvt. James L. McDonald, Jr., with the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Michael, at home; three daughters, Mrs. David Jolly, Waterloo, and Janeanne Koester and Maureen McDonald, both of Iowa City; his mother Julia McDonald, Newhall; a brother, the Rev. J. Robert McDonald, Newhall, and three grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's church by the Rev. J. Robert McDonald. Arrangements by Stewart's funeral home. Friends may, if they wish, contribute to the cancer fund.
