January 24, 1911 ---- September 9, 1999

SILVERTON, OREGON -- Earl Peterson, 88, died Thursday [September 9, 1999] of lung cancer. Born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, he moved to Silverton in 1960. He was a retired real estate broker. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, belonged to Scottish Rite, Hilah Shrine Temple and was a past exalted ruler of the Silverton Elks. Survivors include his wife Minnie [Trendle], who he married in 1932; son, Dick of Hallan, Neb.; daughter, Judy Duncan of Silverton; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church of Silverton. Private interment will be at Valley View Cemetery. Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapel. Contributions: Silverton Elks Lodge BPOE Youth Fund, in care of the mortuary.

Lancaster, CALIFORNIA -- PETERSON, Earl E., former Lancaster resident died September 9, 1999. He passed away at home in Silverton, Ore., of lung cancer at the age of 88. Born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on January 24, 1911, Pete lived in Lancaster from 1948 to 1960. He worked at Edwards Air Force Base in charge of material facilities and then as Small Business Administrator. In Silverton he was a real-estate broker, retiring in 1982. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Minnie; daughter, Judy Duncan of Silverton; son, Dick of Hallam, Neb.; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Pete was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, belonged to Scottish Rite, and Hilah Shrine Temple. In 1948 he became a member of the Rosamond Elks and in 1966-67 Pete was Exalted Ruler of the Silverton Elks.

Attending services in Silverton on September 13th were his sister-in-law, Jeanne Dunn, and niece, Debbie Blaine with her husband, Ted, all of Lancaster. Interment was held at Valley View Cemetery, Silverton, Oregon.
