Services for Herman Meints, 84, Klemme, who died Thursday, Dec. 1, 1994 at the Belmond Community Hospital in Belmond, were held Saturday, Dec. 3, 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme with Rev. Don Walters officiating. Music was provided by organist Lynette Nuehring. Casket bearers were Dennis Guth, Robert Lau, Marvin Lindsay, Ron Kuhlers, Richard "Dick" Meints and Charles Cole. Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme with arrangements by Tenold Funeral Home.

Herman Meints, the son of Abbe and Grace (Kileman) Meints, was born February 28, 1910 at Meservey. He attended rural school. On February 20, 1942, he married Lenora Larson at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ parsonage in Klemme. They farmed together in the Klemme area and have lived and farmed the present farm for 50 years. Herman enjoyed reading and never lost his interest in farming.

He is survived by his wife, Lenora; sons Harlan A. Meints and his wife, Sheryl of Ute, and Terry L. Meints of Klemme; a daughter-in-law, Carol Meints of St. Charles; nine grandchildren, Juleen Meints, Michael Meints, Steve Meints, Angela Meints, Jamie Meints, Nicky Meints, Kristy Meints, Craig Meints and Tracy (Meints) Marshall; sisters, Erma Smit, Grace Trager and Bessie Kaduce, all of Belmond. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard A.; sisters, Minnie, Amanda, Elizabeth and Gertie; and brothers, Alfred, Abbie and Herman at 17 months.
