Mrs. Carmen Lavonne Back, 60

Funeral services for Mrs. Carmen Lavonne Back, 60, were held Wed., May 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Klemme with Rev. Lloyd A. Gustafson officiating. Music was provided by organist Mrs. Ernest Gerardi and soloists Tom and Bill Renner. Casket bearers were Chet Renner, Harvey Barz, Larry Kluckhohn, Craig Larsen, Milvern Barz, and Verle Keraus. Interment was in Klemme Cemetery.

Carmen Lavonne Back, daughter of Frank W. and Anna Amelia Liljenberg Kluckhohn, was born August 4, 1920, at Klemme. She was confirmed in the United Church of Christ in Klemme and graduated from Klemme High School after which she taught rural school in the Klemme area. On May 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lynford Back. They began farming in the Klemme area and farmed until their retirement in 1978, when they moved to town. Carmen was very active in the Church and its fellowship and also in community affairs. She served as secretary of the Klemme Apartments since they were started.

Carmen died suddenly on Sunday May 17, at Belmond Community Hospital. She is survived by her husband Lynford, one daughter Mrs. Daryl (Roxanne) Brager of Eagle Grove; and two sons, Joel of Lake Mills; and David of Klemme; two grandchildren, Tracy and Tammy Brager; and two brothers, Kenneth and Franklin Kluckhohn, both of Klemme.
