October 23, 1896 --- August 14, 1978

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian M. Thompson, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Paul D. Williamson officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. Mrs. Thompson died Monday morning at the Clarion Memorial hospital where she had been a patient the past week.

Lillian Mae Leopold, daughter of Del and Myrtle May Olmstead Leopold, was born Oct. 23, 1896, at Beresford, S.D. As an infant she came to Iowa with her family, and attended schools in Des Moines and Webster City. On March 15, 1916 she was united in marriage to Ivan Thompson and the couple resided on the Thompson family farm three miles north of Stonega. She was preceded in death by her husband June 23, 1966.

She is survived by one son and three daughters, Cecil W. Thompson of Woolstock, Mrs. Alvin (Mae) Butler, and Mrs. Estelle (Maxine) Brownfield, both of Webster City, and Mrs. Dan (Darlene) Rasmussen of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three brothers and one sister, Jesse Leopold, Duluth, Minn., Howard Leopold, Lloyd Leopold and Mrs. Josephine Stephen, all of Des Moines. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, two grandsons; one great-grandson and five brothers.

She was a member of the Mulberry Center church and the Mulberry Center Helping Hand club. She was actively involved in the Town and Country Garden club.
