Anna Helene “Annie” Johnson, 90, of Hudson [South Dakota] died Tuesday, February 18, 1997, at the Colonial Manor in Hudson. Services were at 11 A.M. Friday, February 21 at Hudson Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Tammy Anderson officiating. Burial was in Eden Cemetery at Hudson. Visitation was at noon Thursday, with the family present at 6:30 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at the Porter Funeral Home of Hudson.

Mrs. Johnson was born January 9, 1907, near Butler, South Dakota, the daughter of Carl and Ingeborg (Kvam) Hanson. She graduated from Webster, South Dakota, High School and obtained her teaching certificate from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She taught country school near Butler. She married Anthony “Tony” Johnson on September 6, 1930 in Webster, South Dakota. The couple farmed near Kanawha, Iowa and Fairview-Norway Center, South Dakota area beginning March 1, 1934. They moved to Hudson in 1979 and into the Colonial Manor on April 4, 1994. He died November 14, 1994.

She was a 4-H leader for many years and member of the Hudson Happy Hour Club for 35 years. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of WELCA and a charter member of the Canton, South Dakota Sons of Norway.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Donald and Alice of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Eugene and Carol of Rock Valley; two daughters, Marilyn and her husband John Trisch of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Clarice Fodness and her fiance Clifford Miller of Akron, a sister-in-law, Thelma Hanson of Redfield, South Dakota; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Marlo Fodness; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Mabel Whitmyre; and a brother Art.
