Barbara Hrabak was born on July 22, 1881, to Vencil and Anna Nekola Hrabak on a farm near Vining, Iowa. She was reared and educated in the rural community. Upon reaching womanhood, she moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where she met her future husband, Francis E. Cole. They were married April 8, 1901 near Vining, Iowa. Except for a few years in Mason City, she had resided here all her married life.

Mr. Cole passed away in July of 1954. In 1984, she gave up her home and moved to Rotary Ann Home of Eagle Grove, where she thoroughly enjoyed the comforts and facilities of the home and more especially, the many friends there.

She had been in failing health the past year, and died at the Rotary Ann Home on January 11 at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 19 days. Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by two sons: Kenneth, Eagle Grove, and Dr. Clyde Cole, Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Kouba, Vining, Ia.; three granddaughters: Mrs. James Sebby, Clarion; Mrs. Robert Reimers, Moline, Ill.; and Barbara Cole, Rockford, Ill.; and seven great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Congregational Church (UCC), Woman's Guild and the Equality Club.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church (UCC), Eagle. Grove, on Thursday, January 13, at 2 pm. Rev. Emmett Braselton officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
