G. A. Blue dies at 70
Gurney A. Blue, 70, a longtime resident of the Kamrar-Webster City community, died Thursday evening in the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient for the past six days. He had been in ill health the past nine months. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Asbury United Methodist church with the Rev. S.W. Cunningham officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 10 a.m. Monday when it will be taken to the church.
Gurney A. Blue, son of Arthur L. and Anna Seamands Blue, was born July 3, 1901 at Kamrar. He was reared and educated in the Kamrar and Webster City community. He was united in marriage Aug. 24, 1930 to Marcelean Anna Friday Derscheid, and the couple made their home on a farm two miles east of Webster City.
He is survived by his wife; three sons and one daughter, Robert Blue, Washington, D.C., James A. Blue, Webster City, Ronald G. Blue, Kansas City, and Mrs. Doug (Bonnie) Patrick of Topeka, Kan.; four step-children, Mrs. Chester (Marjorie) Neese, Minneapolis, Richard Derscheid, Clarion, Mrs. Lloyd (Lois) Hanson, Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Donald (JoAnn) Heath of Waterloo; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Severt (Frankie) Berven and Mrs. Harry (Mildred) Cleckner, both of Webster City and Mrs. Robert (Pearl) McFerren of Fort Collins, Colo. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judith Ann and Marcelyn Blue, and his parents.
