Eldred “Tiny” Schutt, 89, of Clarion passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center. A private family memorial service for Tiny Schutt will be held on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East, in Clarion with Pastor Nicole Woodley officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Edred “Tiny” Schutt was born on April 19, 1928 to Christian and Emma (Loux) Schutt on the farm in near Woolstock, Iowa. Eldred was raised on the family farm with his eight siblings; he attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Woolstock High School in 1947. In his senior year of high school, Eldred met the love of his life. Eldred and Beverly (Lester) were united in marriage on June 24, 1948 and have resided in Clarion since.

Eldred lived his lifelong passion for aviation as a commercial pilot, flight instructor and A/P mechanic. In his early years, he was employed by Cambier Chevrolet and B. C. Bunn Mechanical Contracting. After his family was raised he turned to aviation as a full-time career, being associated with the Clarion and Eagle Grove airports. He was an honored recipient of the Federal Aviation Association’s Wright Brother’s Award.

His other passions included the shooting sports and restoration of antique musical instruments. Eldred was a national champion trap shooter and fostered a home business doing the restoration work in his shop in Clarion. Tiny enjoyed playing cards and creating stained glass.

Eldred “Tiny” is survived by daughter-in-law Diane Schutt; grandchildren, Todd (Sue) Prehm, Missy (Dickie) Walls, Mike (Amber) Prehm, and Cindy (Brett) Poling; 17 great-grandchildren; brother Deslyn Schutt, and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members. Eldred is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Schutt in May of 2015; sons Yale Schutt in October of 2015 and Steven Schutt in March of 2017; siblings Herbert (Irene) Schutt, Charles (Edna) Schutt, Emma (Alton) Potter, George Schutt, Celestin “Buster” (Darlene) Schutt, Ilo (Marilyn) Schutt, Martin (Lillian and Janis) Schutt, and Hazel (Roger) Brock.
