Eliza Jane Knowles

April 21, 1851 --- July 6, 1939

Mrs. Eliza Knowles McIntyre was born in Cornwall, England, Nov. [April] 21, 1851. She came to this country with her parents when she was a small child. The family settled at Mountford, Wisc., later moving to Eldora in 1870, where she was united in marriage with Frank Mclntyre on April 2, 1871. To this union four children were born, two of whom, a son and daughter, preceded her in death. Two sons survive, Sanford D. of Ida Grove and V. P. of Eagle Grove. For the past few years Mrs. McIntyre made her home with her son, Sanford, at Ida Grove where she passed away July 6, 1939. The remains were brought here and funeral services held at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home Saturday, July 8, with the Rev. J. R. Tumbleson in charge. Interment was in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery. She was 88 years, 2 months and 15 days old.

The following attended the funeral from out of the city: Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Baker, Mrs. Emery Van Patter, Mrs. John Helm, Mrs. L. Manning, Mrs. John Huff, Miss Bonnie Knowles, Clyde Knowles, Arthur Knowles, all of Hubbard, Iowa; Alva Collins, Miss Tena Collins, Miss Nellie Baker, all of Ida Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fromm, Humboldt; Miss Maxine McIntyre, and Carl Lussen of Des Moines.
