Mrs. L. McDonald Dies November 22

Mrs. Lucinda Ann McDonald died Wednesday evening, Nov. 22 at Cherokee, Iowa. Mrs. McDonald was the mother of Mrs. Vera Howell of this city. Funeral services were held at Wilson's Chapel Saturday afternoon in charge of Rev. Harry Throckmorton of the Baptist church. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Lucinda Ann Carder was born in Indiana to Wesley and Mary Ann Wynant Carder on May 17, 1868. In the year of 1894 she was united in marriage to Taylor McDonald. To this union one son and one daughter (twins) were born, the son, Verne, preceding her in death at the age of thirteen. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Vera Howell of Eagle Grove and five grandchildren, two of the grandsons in the Armed Services at this time, besides one sister, Mrs. Jessie Royce of Algona and two brothers, Charles F. Carder of Mason City and Merle of Big Rapids, Mich., and other relatives.

She came to Eagle Grove as a young woman attending school here and at the Algona Academy, residing here from 1887 until on account of illness she was taken to the State Hospital at Cherokee in the year 1932 where she passed away the evening of November 22, 1944 at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Many years ago she, with her daughter, joined the local Baptist church and she remained a member until her death. She will be remembered as a kind and good mother and a considerate neighbor.

Services were held at Wilson's Chapel Saturday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Harry Throckmorton of the Baptist church in charge.
Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
