Mrs. Thorson Rites This Afternoon
Mrs. Mary Thorson, 86, passed away Tuesday at her home at 618 N. Fourth St. W. in Eagle Grove. The funeral service will be held this afternoon at the West Side Lutheran church with Rev. B. A. Olsen of Fort Dodge officiating. Mrs. Thorson is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Fevold, and four sons, Ed, of Eagle Grove; Will, of Badger; Otis, of Long Beach, California, and Harry, of Thor; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and one brother, Charles Klengson, of Hersher, Illinois. Mary Klengson was born near Odell, Livingston county, Illinois, on October 19, 1860. Here she spent her girlhood and womanhood days. She was married to Torkel Thorson, of near Herscher, Illinois, and to this union were born ten children. Her husband and four children preceded her in death, three of whom were infants and a son, Martin, also a grandson, Maurice Fevold, who died in the service of his country in World War 2., A great grandson, Howard Lee Prime also preceded her.Surviving her departure is one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Fevold, of Eagle Grove, four sons, Eddie of Eagle Grove, Will of Badger, Otis of Long Beach, Calif., Harry of Thor, eight grandchildren and three great granchlldren, a brother, Charles, of Herscher, Illinois, and other relatives and friends.
In 1902 the family moved to Iowa from Illinois, locating on a farm near Badger. In July of 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Thorson moved to Eagle Grove where they resided up until their deaths. Altho Mrs. Thorson had been in poor health the past five months her death came as a shock. Realizing death was imminent, she desired a readiness and willingness to obey His will and told the family around her bedside she was going home. She passed away April 2, 1946. Services were held Thursday afternoon at Wilson's chapel and the West Side Lutheran church at Eagle Grove at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. B. A. Olsen of Fort Dodge officiating. Interment was made on the family lot in Blossom Hill cemetery near Badger. The bearers were Lewis H. Espe of Thor and Jens J. Orsland, Bert Larson, Jacob Mandsager, Marshall T. Thompson and Jacob Berg, all of Eagle Grove. Special music was rendered by a quartette of ladies, Mrs. Albert Christopher, Mrs. H. J. Luthro, Mrs. A. O. Larson and Mrs. Eddie Thompson, with Mrs. Homer Wicks as pianist.
