John Thomas Craigmile, Age 77, of Foley, Alabama passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at his home. John was born October 12, 1938 in Clarion, Iowa to Samual Craigmile and Gladys Jetmund Craigmile. He grew up in the farming communities of Northern Iowa, and graduated from Gowrie High School, Gowrie, Iowa. He attended Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa. John served in the Iowa Air National Guard and was employed with Western Electric (AT&T) for 35 1/2 years, then retired to Alabama in 1993. He joined the Masonic Lodge in Arab, Alabama and the Cahaba Shrine Temple in Huntsville, Alabama and was a member in both for 22 years. He served as Potentate to Cahaba Shrine in 2004 and was in charge of 10 counties in North Alabama. He took great pride in this accomplishment.

John was a member of the Lutheran Church most of his life and accepted Jesus as his savior. John was an avid golfer and took great delight in teasing his family and friends.

John is survived by his spouse Barbara Gail Stewart Craigmile of Foley, Alabama; his sons Jeff T. Craigmile (Sue) of Spokane Valley, Washington and Todd S. Craigmile (Connie) of Westerville, Ohio; his stepsons Bradley A. Hughes of Arab, Alabama and Shawn M. Hughes of Foley, Alabama; his grandchildren Rachel Craigmile Lammer (Aaron) of Austin, TX, Nicole Craigmile of Spokane Valley, Washington, Monica Craigmile of Westerville, Ohio, Justin Craigmile of Spokane Valley, Washington, and Phillip Craigmile of Westerville, Ohio; and a brother Charles Craigmile of Waukee, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James Craigmile.

He was a devout son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and husband and was loved and will be greatly missed by all of his family and many wonderful friends.
