Stanley D. Chapman, 75, of rural Woolstock, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services for Stan Chapman will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the United Presbyterian Church, 219 1st Street Northwest in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Stan, the son of John J. and Ruth (Sackett) Chapman, was born September 20, 1941 on the family’s Century Farm seven and one-half miles south of Clarion. He attended country schools and graduated in 1958 from Clarion High School.

Stan was united in marriage to Karen Duitscher in 1962. They were blessed with sons Clint and Brent. The couple continued to make their home on the family farm. Following graduation, Stan continued to farm the land and had a dairy operation of Holsteins. He later drove for C.L. (Clint and Leslie) Chapman Trucking for six years. Stan was very active by serving on the local, state, midland and national dairy boards. Stan and Karen were hosts to many schoolchildren and international groups that toured their dairy operation.

Stan was a member of the Clarion United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially football and NASCAR. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. More recently, his interests included watching and feeding the birds, taking care of the yards, and working in his shop with his German Shepherd, Charles, by his side.

Stan is survived by his wife, Karen, of Woolstock; son Clint (Leslie) Chapman of Le Mars; grandchildren Talia (Cale) Greve and their son Miles of Huxley, Kayla (Brian) Matgen and their children Mackenzie, Josie, Mason and Micah of Remsen, Tylon Chapman of Le Mars, Megan (Chris) Demoney and their daughter Gabrielle of Madelia, Minnesota, Cassandra (James) Mathison and their children Dylon, Devon and Alexis of Amboy, Minnesota, Cody (Chelsey) Hledik and their children Gavin and Zander of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Katie Chapman and her children Ayden and Autumn of Clarion, Jordan Chapman and his son Leo of Cedar Falls, Blake (Taylor) Chapman and their children Easton and Ella of Garner, and Brock Chapman of Fort Dodge; sister Jean (Jerry) Carolus of Hampton; brother Ed (Cecelia) Chapman of Forest Grove, Oregon; brother-in-law Bill (Ginny) Dawson; brother-in-law Dean (Melvene) Duitscher; sister-in-law Marcia (Larry) Zach; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dixie Dawson and son Brent Chapman in July.
