Dr. Clifford J. Mickelson, 68, longtime Webster City area veterinarian and former mayor of Webster City, died July 29, 1984 at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, where he had been a patient for four days. Services were held Aug. 1, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Webster City, with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine; daughters, Mrs. Brian (Carol) Marcks, Baton Rouge, La.; Mrs. Douglas (Nancy) Dashner, De Kalb, Ill.; Mrs. William (Susan) Fricrych, Muscatine; six grandchildren, and sister, Dorothy Mickelson, Eagle Grove.

Clifford Joel Mickelson was born on a farm in Humboldt County near Eagle Grove. He was educated in the rural schools, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1933. In 1940 he married Elaine Watkins at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. Dr. Mickelson graduated from Iowa State College, now Iowa State University, Ames, with a degree in veterinary medicine, in 1941. The couple resided in Davenport for one year and moved to Webster City in 1942 where he was a partner with Dr. John Morton and later Dr. Robert Veach and Dr. Richard Stribe. He retired in October of 1982 and they continued to live in Webster City. Dr. Mickelson was a former president of the Trinity Lutheran Church Council and a past president of the Sons of Norway. He was a former Webster City mayor and City Council member. He was a member of the Webster City Civic Service Commission, and was the president of the Boone Valley Housing Development.
