Karl P. Arne was born December 22, 1874 at Bergen, Norway and died at his home, 518 West Fourth Street South, Eagle Grove, Iowa Wednesday. He was united with Christ Jesus in holy baptism, received instruction, and confessed his Christian faith. In 1800 he came to America, to Bode, Iowa, where he lived until 1900, at which time he visited his native country, and where, in 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Alette Johansen. Bringing his bride with him, Mr. Arne returned to America and lived for some time at Rolfe and later again at Bode. In 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Arne moved to Eagle Grove, where he entered the service of the C & N W R. R. Co, continuing in that service until his health failed last spring.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Arne, three passing away in childhood. The surviving are: Mrs. Ramona Pohlman of Minneapolis, Peter Arne of Chicago, Gustave Arne of Hardy, Karl Arne of Cadillac, Mich., Elmo and Margaret Arne, both at home. These, with Mrs. Arne, mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. He is also survived by five grandchildren and by one sister living in Norway.

Mr. Arne was a very dependable man in his occupation, frugal in his habits, a good neighbor, a friend whom one could trust. He will be missed when his place is empty. When his health began to fail medical aid was sought with the best advisers, but nothing could be done for him in that respect. He was satisfied with his lot, and resigned himself into the care of his God and Saviour.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon October 31, from the home at 1:00 o'clock, and from the church at 1:30. Interment was in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.
