THELMA B. ARNE
Thelma B. Cowan was born January 16, 1899, the daughter of Thomas and Louisa Wheatly Cowan at Eagle Grove. She attended rural Thor schools and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1916. She was united in marriage to Norman Arne of Eagle Grove in February of 1925. The couple had lived in Newton and in Massachusetts, until moving back to Eagle Grove. Mr. Arne died in 1970. Thelma was a member of the United Church of Christ and the church circle. On November 16, Thelma B. Arne was admitted to Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge due to an extended illness. She died there November 27, 1988, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Don; two brothers, Alvin and Wilmer; and one sister, Gladys Comstock. She is survived by a son, Thomas Arne Sr., Eagle Grove; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 30 at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Selva Lehman officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
