Wm. Lape, 86, Passed Away Mon. Apr. 13
Funeral Services Held Wednesday Afternoon at the Methodist Church in This City.

Wm. Lape passed away at his home on South Lucas Avenue early Monday morning. Had he lived until the 25th of this month, he would have reached the age of 87 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. J. R. Tumbleson in charge. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

William Theodore Lape was born in Palmyra, Pa., April 25, 1855. His mother died when he was three years old. He continued to live in Pennsylvania until he was 18 years old, moving to a farm near Hammond, Ill., where he lived for a number of years. On Feb. 11, 1891, he was united in marriage with Lillie Greer of Hammond. They made their home there on the farm until 1902 when they moved to a farm near Eagle Grove. They moved into Eagle Grove in 1910 where they had since made their home. He worked in the Brisbin Feed Barn for a number of years, later becoming sexton of the cemetery and caretaker of the Country Club. With failing health he was compelled to retire from active life a few years ago. He had not been so well in recent months and was taken suddenly worse a week ago Saturday, and passed away at his home early Monday, April 13, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 18 days. As a young man he was baptized in the Christian church where he kept his membership for many years. He was a regular attendant at church services in Eagle Grove, along with his wife, except when his health prevented his doing so. Through the years of kindly living he made a great place for himself in the hearts of many people, who pay high tribute to the life of this good man.
