Donna Halverson, 80, of West Union, Iowa died Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, West Union, Iowa. Donna Faye was born October 16, 1936 to William Howard and Doris Elaine (Bates) Hackley in Clarion, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Richfield. Donna graduated from Rowan High School in 1954 and attended secretarial school in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Donna was united in marriage with Roger Johnson on May 5, 1955 in Eagle Grove, they later divorced. Donna was then united in marriage with Wayne Halverson on March 24, 1979 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She worked at Meinerz Creamery and Beatrice Cheese in Fredericksburg, where she retired after thirty years. Donna then worked at Prairie View for several years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, taking care of her cats, reminiscing, family get togethers and Christmas. Donna loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing and camping with Wayne, and an occasional Coors Light.

Donna is survived by her three children, Robert (Kathy) Johnson of West Union, Iowa, Michael (Kathy) Johnson of Castalia, Iowa and Kim (Billy Clark) Johnson of Fayette, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Denise Johnson of Alpha, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three and two on the way great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one brother, David (Lucy) Hackley of West Union, Iowa. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, William and Doris Hackley; husband, Wayne Halverson on October 4, 2015; son, Jeff Johnson on August 4, 2013; one sister, Betty LaRue; and one brother, Ronald Hackley “Charlie”.

Memorial Services will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Burnham-Wood- Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa with a visitation from 1- 3 pm at the funeral home before services on Friday. Rev. Ginny Olson will be the Officiant. A private family inurnment with be at Alpha Cemetery, Alpha, Iowa at a later date. Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.
