U.S. Veteran Daniel Eugene Fox, 51, Valley Falls, Kansas died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at a Topeka hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1965, at Wayne, NE, the son of Vernie E. and Evalena A. Staggs Fox. He graduated from Clarion, IA High School in 1984. Before his senior year in high school he completed basic training with the Iowa National Guard. He became certified as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic and was stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC, and at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

Dan had been a mechanic and an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed raising Longhorn cattle and Basset hounds, was a NASCAR fan, loved Peterbilt trucks, and just happened to like Hippos. He had attended Rock Creek Bible Church, north of Meriden.

Dan married Paula Johnson and they had two daughters, Ashley and Cassandra. They were divorced. He married Gin Wilkins. They were divorced. He had been a domestic partner with Jana Winter. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Fox, May 30, 2004. Survivors include two daughters, Ashley Johnson, and her husband, Rickey, Martinez, CA, and Cassandra Fox, and her children, Macie and Winston Fox, Carroll, IA; his parents, Vernie and Evalena Fox, Valley Falls; and his brother, Vernie D. Fox, and his wife, Kristin, Meriden.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Fellowship Hall of the Rock Creek Bible Church. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Rock Creek Bible Church.
