Steven John Olson, the son of Alvin and Elaine (Chentland) Olson, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on July 25, 1961. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating with the "Class of 1979". Steve was an active member of FFA during high school. In 1981, he graduated from ILCC in Emmetsburg with a Farm Management Degree. On July 26, 1986, Steve married Melanie Powell at Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge and together they have three daughters. After many years of marriage they later divorced. Steve drove a semi-truck for many years, driving for different companies including – Umthun Trucking, LBT Transport, Smith Way, Caladonia, Quality Liquid Feeds and Decker. He retired in 2014, due to his health.

Steve was an active member of Samuel Lutheran Church where he served as a Trustee, helped with spring clean-up, fall leaf raking and supported the Riverside Bible Camp. He was also active in the Eagle Grove Jaycees and member of the Fort Dodge Rifle and Pistol Club. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and riding his Goldwing motorcycle.

Steve passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge, at the age of 55 years. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his three daughters, Kati Olson, Kristi Williams (Denny) and Kalli Olson; mother, Elaine Olson; siblings, Chuck Olson (Leann), Barbara Petty (Duane), Lori Eldridge (Jim) and Rod Olson (Laura); nieces and nephews, Ryan, Luke, Jackie (Scott), Erin (David), Ethan, Isaac, Blake and Bryce; great nieces and nephews, Isabella, Victoria, Bridget, Andrew, Liam and Drayson and many aunts, uncles and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the Eagle Grove Ambulance – 210 E. Broadway, Eagle Grove, IA or the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa – 1441 Pleasant St Des Moines, Iowa.
